What is a graphene coating, chemically?
"Graphene coating" is not a separate chemistry. It is a conventional ceramic or hybrid coating, usually SiO₂ or silazane based, with a small amount of graphene or graphene oxide dispersed in the liquid. Ethos, for example, describes its Graphene Matrix as a silazane backbone with graphene bonded in; Adam's markets a graphene-infused ceramic. What do graphene coatings claim, and what holds up?
The marketed benefits are slicker feel, stronger beading, less water spotting, higher stain resistance, and sometimes heat dissipation. The first four are also what a quality SiO₂ ceramic delivers. Water-spot resistance is the one plausible edge, and even there, strong beading can concentrate minerals as droplets dry. Heat dissipation on a painted panel has no published test behind it. Does a graphene coating self-heal?
