What's the difference between protective coating and ceramic coatings?
protective coatings (like Revivify) use flexible polymers that bend on impact and self-heal with heat. Ceramic coatings use rigid silica (SiO₂) that creates a hard sacrificial layer. protective coating resists rock chips better, lasts longer, and actually repairs minor swirls — but it's also more expensive and requires certified application. Ceramic is cheaper and faster to apply but wears out and can't self-repair.

Ceramic coatings are silica-based (SiO₂) — the same molecular family as glass. They cure into a hard, brittle layer on top of paint. protective coatings (like Revivify) use protective coating-based polymers in a flexible matrix that retains elastic properties after cure.

When ceramic makes sense
Ceramic coatings are still a reasonable choice if:

Can you put ceramic over protective coating (or vice versa)?
Not recommended. The chemistries don't bond well to each other. Pick one approach and stick with it. If you're switching from ceramic to protective coating, professionals will polish off the existing ceramic before applying Revivify.
